For sure Filipinos know that “hanapbuhay” (means of living) is neither easy to maintain nor replace. Same thing applies to those people who makes bigger bucks working in front of their computers, who can afford to have latte in their afternoon breaks…
Things are different now, at least in my own perspective. Due to the influx of recession, even those who work in front of the computers get laid off, get to be on-call or get to spend their weekends in the office, working.
Luckily, I’m not one of those retrenched people, at least at this point in time (and please let it not happen this time, for goodness’ sake, I’m getting married) but I, together with my teammates were asked to work on weekends for 3 consecutive weeks! As a result, in the last week, I was having chest pains and migraines,
There were really no weekends! We didn’t feel it, since we have to work 7 days a week, stressed with work counterparts in the States and the system we’re testing was soooo slow!
Monday, I started feeling chest pains and migraines. Still I have to work, more that 8 hours for us to meet the expectations of our counterparts.
Tuesday, migraines and casual attacks of chest pains. The latter disappeared in the afternoon, the former continued until the night.
I left as soon as I was able to complete my work, which fell on the 8th hour of my work. I went to Jay’s office, which was my former company. He can leave by 9 pm since he went there early, and I arrived in the office just in time for him to log out.
Migraine still persistent, but we continued on with our dinner. I specifically asked to go out on a date so that I can forget about my toxic work, a.k.a my new life.
Wednesday, when I woke up, I’m still having migraine attacks. So I’ve decided to go the Medical City and the doctor told that what I was having could be heartburns and requested me to have ECG.
ECG! Why would I need that?
But since it’s the doctor’s advice, I went to the Laboratory and had the ECG.
The lady who performed the ECG on me said that the result would be released the next day! Yey!
After two days, I still haven’t checked on my result (and I guess we all know the reason behind that). Maybe tomorrow? I’ll keep you posted!
Well, after more than 1 week, I was able to revisit my doctor in Medical City. The result: normal heart, just heartburns a.k.a. untimely meals plus overeating
Being workaholic makes me skip my meals, most often than not, my breakfast, being hyper acidic makes me burn my food faster; therefore, I get heartburn.
Now, I can’t drink or eat anything with caffeine (coffee, tea, caffeinated soda, chocolates, and so on) , citrus foods (fruits included), which is such a bummer since I love citrus and sour foods. Also, I can’t skip meals, and lastly, the most sad part, no overeating.
I love to eat!!! Nowadays, with my work being so tiresome, I indulge myself to eating even while working.
But I’m determined to follow my doctor.
Good girl.
